Petros Zaranis was born in 1969 in Athens, Greece.
He studied classical guitar at the ‘Greek Musical School’ for 5 years
with Charalambos Ekmektsoglou and for 3 years with Costas Gregoreas.
He graduated with a Diploma in Classical Guitar
(grade A) and he won the first prize in 1993. He participated in two
national classical guitar contests, where he won the second prize. He
worked as a music-teacher in the Athenian and other music-schools. He
took ud and ney lessons with Christos Tsiamoulis and he studied Byzantine
music for 4 years with father Strategopoulos and Tryphon Tsatsaros, professor
of Byzantine music. He attended seminars of instrument-construction
with the famous violin and stringed-instruments constructor Giorgos Psilakis.
He owns a musical
instruments workshop at Argyroupoli. He works as a musical-instruments
constructor since 1997. He has collaborated with many musicians and he
is currently publishing his first album
